Why does BusyCal require access to Location Services?
BusyCal requires access to location services for Weather, Travel Time and Time to Leave Alarms.
BusyCal has two apps that may require access to Location Services in System Settings > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Location Services. Both apps will be displayed in System Settings (and both have the same name). One is the main BusyCal app and the other is the BusyCal background app.
The main BusyCal app requires access to location services for:
Displaying the weather in your location — The main BusyCal app only requires access to Location Services for displaying weather if you've enabled the "At current location" option in BusyCal > Settings > Weather. If so, BusyCal will access location services a couple times a day when updating the weather forecast. If you prefer to not use location services for the weather you can change your weather Settings in BusyCal to a static location based on Zip or city code.
Calculating travel time to an event starting from your current location — The main BusyCal app only requires access to location services during the initial process of calculating the travel time from your current location. It does not access location services after that.
The BusyCal background app requires access to location services for:
- Displaying Time to Leave alarms — The BusyCal background app requires access to location services if you’ve set a Time to Leave alarm for an event with travel time. If you select this option, BusyCal monitors traffic conditions every 5 minutes for up to 3 hours before the start of the event and displays a time to leave alarm at the moment when you must leave to get to the event on time.
